I Love Making Jewellery!
While photography was my first love, making jewellery is the thing that really blows my hair back. I have been told by a psychic that I was a goldsmith during the Incan Empire, and while I don’t know for sure that this is true, it is certainly something that feels deeply bedded in my being.
My journey as a silversmith began when I took a gap year in my post-grad studies and then went on to make a living for a short time from selling my work at markets and then my mom’s gallery. I am strongly inspired by the natural world, and the richness of global cultures and their creative spirit. Each piece I create reflects these influences — a blend of tradition, symbolism, and the organic beauty of natural materials.
I’m drawn to the raw textures, organic lines and the colours of nature and I allow them to guide my designs. I work with materials such as shells, feathers, crystals and semi-precious stones, not only for their aesthetic beauty but also for their energetic and healing properties. The metals too carry their own energy, and I work with fine and sterling silver as well as gold accents to create warmth, contrast and a sense of balance in each design. Many of my creations are designed as modern talismans — objects of intention, protection, and empowerment, and each piece I make is bespoke, a once off creation.
I have a deep love for traditional and ethnic designs. My travels are a source of inspiration and discovery as are the many books that I have collected or inherited from my mother. I often return home with beads, stones that I’ve picked up, and other elements and ideas that later find their way into my creations.
My work is about crafting pieces that speak to the heart and soul — jewellery that feels personal, powerful, meaningful. You may be drawn to one of my creations because of its symbolism, the healing energy that it brings, or simply because of its beauty. Whichever it is I trust and intend that wearing it will bring you joy.
