Kalahari Nights
This photograph was taken sitting around the camp fire at Bobbejaanskop in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, South Africa. We had nothing between us and the lions but a low boma wall made of thorny Acacia branches. The Bushmen kept a fire going all night and someone was always awake and feeding the fire, listening to the night sounds around us. The soft firelight illuminates this primal scene of First Peoples and I felt very blessed to have this experience.
