I took this photograph while travelling in the South Pacific. A young man from Panama had sailed solo across the Pacific Ocean to the Solomon Islands, where I met him. A few of the local lads from the village were hanging out on his yacht when I was invited to sail with them to a nearby island. The image captures the vastness of the sea and sky with the curve of the horizon mirrored in the curve of the wood, the iconic image of revolutionary Che Guevara on the flag, fluttering behind him in the breeze, the golden light of late afternoon illuminating the scene.
